  Uma: (Sanskrit, उमा) [oh, child!]: Name of Parvati, the consort of Shiva, Hindu Goddess.  
  Upavita or Yajopavita: Sacred thread which is bestowed to the Brahmin priest during the investiture. It is worn diagonally across the body, over the left shoulder.  
  Ushnisha (Sanskrit, n., उष्णीष): A bump at the top of the head of the Buddha. It symbolizes his wisdom and openness as an enlightened being.  
  Uttarasanga: A part of Buddhist monastic garment, the "triple robe" or tricivara. It is the upper robe, which comes over the undergarment, or antaravasaka.
